Try Square Update

Posted 8/Jan/2010:   YES they are finally happening!!!   Brand new pics of the first ones here. Click below to read on...

This shows the support tab on the 10" square hard at work on the edge of my planer table.

After much hard work and distraction in the form of other tools needing to be made I have finally finished the first of the first.  NOT the last of the first I should hasten to add for those still waiting for theirs to turn up.

These Engraved Squares were actually the experiments to test out my new production technique for the squares before I finish real customer orders.  Just in case I bugger it up and ruin one, and good thing I did because I had a couple of 'oopsies'.  Only one that couldn't be saved from a terrible fate though.

The real squares are making progress through the workshop with completing the infills being the task set for next week.  Then its onto assemble and finishing.

My Surface Grinder has been working like a horse (possibly harder than that even) for weeks now flat out grinding blades.  This photo shows it roughing down before a re-dress and then some very light finishing cuts to gut that great shine my blades have.

Still another few days to go yet on those.  The sparks and motion look spectacular in this shot as it was long exposure.

The good news for me is the first run of squares is almost COMPLETELY sold out.

Bad news for you is that means if you haven't pre-ordered you will have to keep waiting.

More good news for that:  I have already started buying material and planning for the second run.

Bad news though:  It will take 4 months again to cycle through more work on my other tools and back to the squares again.

Keep up the encouraging words and the patience guys and girls.  As a one man shop I appreciate it.

Cheers,

Chris.
