Updated 30 May 2020. This page is kept up to date.
Vesper Tools is attending minimal woodworking events due to major production backlogs, there is no point going to shows to sell tools one doesn't even have in stock.
In light of the once in a century COVID19 pandemic it turns out a lot of events regardless of my attendance or not are postponed or cancelled. It is my personal opinion on March 22 2020 that things are going to get a lot worse before they get better in most countries, economics is one matter and there is sympathy for those suffering there right now, but the health system everywhere is headed for total gridlock when the medically dependent COVID cases start running out of beds and respirators, and the total lockdown of everyone in their homes is what really brings things to a halt and is the great unknown in terms of timeframe.
Until this plays out a while longer I don't think anyone really knows when things will get back up and running to whatever is the new normal again, and will there be a second and larger wave of infections than the first? Who really knows.
Coming up in 2020 there was events such as the Melbourne Hand Tool Event at Melb Guild of Fine Woodworking in Blackburn, Maleny Wood Expo, Perth Wood Show and Handworks in Amana Iowa. All of these are cancelled or postponed, no new dates yet confirmed.
Please stay safe and be careful everyone. At least all us woodys out there will be getting plenty of home workshop time for a while. Think of the possibilities in making beautiful things!
Chris Vesper. Artificer, Toolmaker.
Handworks has been postponed until 2021.
Amana, Iowa, USA.
Handwork, nothing much to be said really, just be there, if you like hand tools and woodworking, just be there, sell the kids into slavery, sell your body, blow off work for a week, whatever it takes, just be there. It's about 25 mins from Cedar Rapids in Iowa.
